The Child & Family Support Center held a community vigil today
for Charlie & Braden Powell and in protecting children from all
over the world from child & abuse. What a somber event this was.
There were tears and a lot of support from many people of our
community.
On Sunday, February 5, 2012, 7-year-old Charlie Powell and 5-year-old Braden Powell were brutally murdered by their father. This horrific event follows the unexplained disappearance of the boys’ mother, Susan Cox Powell, on December 6, 2009, and two years of increasing indications of a family in distress.
The loss of these precious, innocent brothers with strong Utah ties provides a stark and chilling reminder nationwide that we must do more to protect our children. In support of our mission of Strengthening Families and Protecting Children, the Child & Family Support Center of Cache County, Inc. (CFSC) asks you to stand with us in solemn memory of the Powell boys and other victims of child abuse.
The children attending were invited to come sit on the steps of the courthouse. And then after Esterlee (the Director of the Child & Family Support Center) spoke for a few moments and then the Chief of Police spoke there was a moment of silence and then the balloons were released into the sky towards heaven.
