Charlie the hunting dog!

All of our neighbors have had lots of problems with these little voles (a type of mouse that doesn't have much of a tail) and they dig tunnels all over their yards.  We have not had much of a problem.  Until NOW!  Only they aren't staying outside, they are coming in our house!  Last night I found some new kinds of traps that are like a tunnel and have some sticky tape inside which traps them and then the trap collapses on it and kills it.  I set two of them downstairs because Tanner said he had heard scurrying in his room at night.

This morning, Greg checked and we had caught one.  Yay!  I went downstairs a little later and saw two mice in his room.  I sent Charlie after them.  A few minutes later Charlie caught one and when I screamed he dropped it--it lay there and twitched and then died.  Charlie just looked at me like he was confused.  So I went and got him a treat.  Now he starts sniffing around again, and gets really excited because he spotted one behind a dresser.  I moved the dresser a bit, he sticks  his nose in there and lo and behold, he comes out with another one!  Yay!  What a good dog he is!

I wish I had a picture, but my battery was not charged on my camera!  We

have had a little problem the last few days with a mouse (vole) in our house!

The first day, Charlie our dog was oblivious to the mouse.  Then, at 

about 3 in the morning, the little mouse must have decided to go wake up

Charlie to play.  All of a sudden I have a dog running around in my bedroom

sniffing, whining, growling, etc (you get the picture) and I am trying to quiet

him down so he doesn't wake up Greg (who is sick with a terrible head cold!)

and hope the mouse doesn't run over my feet!!  After awhile, I finally settled Charlie

down by putting him into bed with me.   Greg set some traps in the morning.  Then,

all of a sudden Charlie was sticking his head under my dresser (where there was a trap)!

It was hilarious, he had discovered the mouse and his tail was wagging so hard and he

was trying to get that little mousy.  I could imagine him saying, "Mom!  You got me a new

toy!  I love it!  I want it, why won't it hold still for me!!"  I really tried to get a picture of this,

darn those batteries!  Anyway, he finally chased the mouse out into the living room and I got

distracted and lost track of it.  I needed to leave to town and Charlie wanted to go with me,

as usual.  So, I grabbed his blanket for the car and put him in.  As I was backing out of the

driveway, A MOUSE RAN OVER MY FEET!!!!!!  Yes, I think I accidentally transferred 

the mouse from the house into the van (as he must have been hiding in Charlie's blanket!)

This was stressful, I really don't want to be driving around with a mouse in my van.  What if

he decides to run around my feet or climb on me while I'm driving?  I'd have a heart attack and

wreck the van!  I sat in my driveway for quite awhile with the doors open hoping he'd just get

out, but no luck!  So, I went to my neighbor's house who owns a really good mousing cat and

put her into my van to catch the mouse.  She really freaked out and refused to play that game. So,

I went to the store and purchased some traps and set three traps in the van hoping to catch the 

little bugger.  Well, its been over 24 hours and no luck!  I have no idea what to do.  I'm hoping 

he found a way out, I haven't seen him.  However, one of the traps had been released and the

treat I left for the mouse was gone this morning.  Pretty exciting day, right?  NOT!

 Greg took Bryce on a boys trip to Wendover to go motorcycling.

This is Chano Hernandez with Bryce.  Chano is the brother of our

neighbor across the street and he lives in Wendover.  He's been

telling Greg that he should bring the kids out there to go motorcycling.

Chano lives there and its basically a motorcycling playground.

They stayed at Chano's house and had a great time!  Chano is a 

super nice man and it was so nice of him to invite them.

 Bryce loved every minute of this!

Chano has drums and according to Bryce he has

tons of guitars!  I think he was in heaven!

Chano even has equipment for recording so he helped

Bryce record a song on the guitar that Bryce wrote for the

Reflections contest that is coming up.  

What can you do with ONE HOUR in Washington DC?

 Greg went on a business trip this week to Washington and 

he ended up having about an hour free.  This is the

Fall

 Have I ever said before that Fall is my MOST favorite time of

year???  The weather has been so nice!  Up until the beginning of this

week we had 80 degree temperatures (so about Oct 4).  This week

has turned a little rainy and cooler, but still really nice!  Temps in the

low 60s.  What more could you ask for?  Well, I might ask for this to

last until Thanksgiving!!

We thank thee O God for a Prophet!

 President Monson is a wonderful man and prophet!  We

loved listening to conference!  How lucky we are to have

the gospel in our lives and to have the opportunity to listen

to a prophet give us guidance twice a year!

Lacrosse Tournament

 Bryce is playing in a Fall tournament for LaCrosse.  This was

the first weekend and each weekend for the month of October

they play 2 games (in Ogden).  

 He's playing on the JV team for Sky View High School.

 He played awesome, getting lots of assists!  They won both

of their games.  The weather was wonderful (in the low

80s, which is highly unusual for October in Utah, but we'll

take it!)
